Smack Talk Showdown - Wrestling Party Card Game

Created by Double Turn Games

Smack Talk Showdown is the party game where smack talking your opponents is not only encouraged, it's necessary! The game is all about the art of the wrestling promo. Two players assume the guise of professional wrestlers and go head-to-head for verbal supremacy while a third player dictates the action as a Producer. Everyone not competing in the current turn (which we call a Segment) is the Audience and gets to choose the victor of the round!

Latest Updates from Our Project:

Digital Proofs are In!
over 6 years ago – Wed, Sep 13, 2017 at 09:35:14 AM

Hey Smack Talkers!

Last weekend we received the digital proofs for Smack Talk Showdown!

Over the past couple days we've gone over every card to ensure nothing was cut off and no typos remained. The whole team is excited to be one step closer to getting the game into your hands.

Next, our printer will send us a physical proof of the game for final inspection. Once we give our approval on the physical proof, Smack Talk Showdown will go into full production!

Stayed tuned for more updates.

Hey Smack Talkers!

In today's update, we'll be featuring one of our two fantastic designers. Alyssa McCallion!

She is a Boston based artist and designer currently working in video games. In her free time she has labored tirelessly to transform our original mock ups into professional designs.

To kick things off, for the first time in public, the Smack Talk Showdown box!

Before Alyssa came along, Smack Talk Showdown was transported in plastic bags and TCG deck boxes. Effective, but it didn't have the "professionally made card game" look we wanted.

Next, the Smack Talk Showdown logo.

The original logo for Smack Talk Showdown was a workhorse for us during our early days, but like most mid-carders, it started to live on past its prime. We needed to bring in a main event star. Alyssa took our pages of notes, sketches, comments and nonsense phrases, deciphered them, and created the logo you see above.

And Finally, the Double Turn Games logo.

Early followers of Smack Talk Showdown may recognize our old company logo from the early days of our Facebook page. Back when funding a game on Kickstarter was a distant dream. It could fill a high school gym. But we need a logo that could fill an arena. Alyssa put our logo through the designers equivalent of the WWE Performance Center and produced a pay-per-view star.

Hey Smack Talkers!

Let the Printing Process Begin!

The box art has been completed and everything has been sent to our printer! Next, we'll get a digital proof, then a physical proof of the game. Once both proofs have been approved by us, Smack Talk Showdown will go into full production. We'll keep everyone updated during each step of the process.

(Please note, this is only for the base game of Smack Talk Showdown. The Kickstarter exclusive cards will be printed separately due to the smaller size of the order.)

In addition to keeping you all updated about the printing process, stay tuned for more detailed posts about our card and box designs in the coming weeks.

Progress Update and Unfortunate Delays
almost 7 years ago – Tue, Aug 01, 2017 at 08:14:55 AM

Hey Smack Talkers!

We haven't forgotten about you! Unfortunately, when you have a three person team, life can easily put a wrench in the cogs of productivity. That doesn't mean we haven't been working on finalizing Smack Talk Showdown, ya jabroni!

We have some good news, and some bad news.

First the good news:

  • We've scoured through all 525 cards and signed off on each one.
  • We've read and reread the rules to make sure they are clear, concise, and make Smack Talk Showdown as fun as possible.

Now the bad news:

  • Work on the box art has been delayed, and as a result, so has sending everything to our printer. We had a design that was good, but we want to provide our backers with the best product possible. In the words or Mr. Perfect himself, we want the box art to be "absolutely perfect." Our team is working to get the box art done ASAP so we can ship Smack Talk Showdown close to our estimated dates.

Once the team have given their final, final approval on everything, the box art, cards, and rules will be sent to our printer Admagic. We'll make sure to keep everyone updated during the whole process.

In the meantime, you can still pre-order additional copies (or copies for a friend) of Smack Talk Showdown through Backerkit, here.

And you can keep in touch with us through social media on Facebook and Twitter.
