Smack Talk Showdown - Wrestling Party Card Game

Created by Double Turn Games

Smack Talk Showdown is the party game where smack talking your opponents is not only encouraged, it's necessary! The game is all about the art of the wrestling promo. Two players assume the guise of professional wrestlers and go head-to-head for verbal supremacy while a third player dictates the action as a Producer. Everyone not competing in the current turn (which we call a Segment) is the Audience and gets to choose the victor of the round!

Latest Updates from Our Project:

A Promo for Tony
about 7 years ago – Thu, Mar 23, 2017 at 11:00:52 AM

As some of our more engaged backers may have noticed, we received an AMAZING comment from one of our backers named Tony during this campaign.  If you missed it, here are some excepts:

""Double Turn Games, while you lay there, funding as quickly as you possibly can, I want you to listen to me. I want you to digest this because before you fulfill in 9 months, I have a lot of things I want to get off my chest. I don’t hate you, Double Turn Games. I don’t even dislike you. I do like you. I like you a hell of a lot more than I like most of the other tabletop games on Kickstarter. I hate this idea that you’re the best Kickstarter account. Because you’re not. I'm the best. I'm the best Kickstarter account in the world...

I have proved to everybody on Kickstarter that I am the best at backing tabletop games, writing funny comments, even suggesting great stretch goals! Nobody can touch me! And yet no matter how many times I prove it, I’m not on your lovely little line art Name cards. I’m not on the cover of the box. I’m barely promoted. I don't get to be on the Segment cards. I’m certainly not on any of the fancy red Smack cards. I’m not in the Mystery Box that some backers are getting. I’m not in the video that you put together at the top of the campaign page. But the fact of the matter is, I should be. This isn’t sour grapes. But the fact that I don't even get to play the game for several months makes me sick! ...

The reason I’m backing is you people. Because after I back, you’re still going to pour money into this campaign. I’m just a spoke on the wheel. The wheel is going to keep turning and I understand that. This campaign is going to make money despite itself. It'll make a million dollars when it should make a billion dollars."

After reading this, we felt there was only one proper way to respond, and that was cutting a promo of our own.  So presented here for your entertainment and Tony's edification, here it is-

Some quick housecleaning, Denis will be on Late Night Liam tonight on the New Age Insiders Podcast Network.  He will also be on The Standing Streamer on Twitch Friday Night.  If anyone else is interested in interviewing us drop us a line at [email protected].

Until Next Time, keep Smack Talking!

Smack Talkers!

Thank you all so much for backing us!  We have raised over $4,000 toward our goal here on Kickstarter. The three of us here at Double Turn Games sincerely appreciate everyone's support. We know that sometimes it is a tough call whether or not to back a project, so thanks to all of you that have. And if you haven't? What's the hold up? For $25 you get:

  • Print & Play Digital Download the week after the campaign ends
  • 500 full-color cards in a retail box
  • 10 cards exclusive to Kickstarter Backers!

Since it is 3/16, a special day for any wrestling fan, until 11:59 PM Pacific Time you save $5 off the regular tier! That's only $20 for what is sure to be hours of entertainment.

Speaking of entertainment, we had so much fun playing the game with all the fans who dropped by to check out Smack Talk Showdown at PAX East this weekend. Denis was hoping to get this update out sooner, but he was hit hard by the dreaded PAX Pox! He's feeling a bit better now, so we now are able to share with you some funny moments from the demos we played (some language may be NSFW!)

We here at Double Turn Games have been working hard over the past year developing Smack Talk Showdown, and we've been humbled by that fact that your excitement seems to equal OUR excitement. Please continue to share the Kickstarter link with your friends and family through e-mail, Facebook, Twitter, carrier pigeon, or telegram! You can find our project page at smacktalkshowdown.com. Help us make Smack Talk Showdown a reality.

Updates will be heading your way on a more consistent basis, so let us know if there are any topics you'd like us to cover!

Thanks again!

NEW Rewards and Critical Acclaim
about 7 years ago – Tue, Mar 21, 2017 at 10:42:04 AM

Smack Talkers!

We are officially 1/3rd of the way to our funding goal!  With 18 days left in the campaign, every backer counts toward helping us reach our goal and getting Smack Talk Showdown printed, published, and in your hands to enjoy!

We have added two new rewards tiers that let you backers contribute and help us create the content for the game.  For $200, you can create your own SMACK card and have it be a permanent part of the 500-card base game!  The card needs to not be explicit or only for mature audiences (we have some ideas for THAT expansion) and we reserve the right to reject ideas that don't fit our vision of the game.  We may also need to edit or wordsmith the card to fit the tone, but that said we will absolutely work with the 5 backers of this tier to make sure EVERYONE is happy with the result.

Also, we have a $1,000 Executive Producer tier, which not only lets you add your own card to the game but also gets you credited as the Executive Producer in the rules of the game.  Want to add a fun party game to your resume?  Take advantage of this once-in-a-lifetime offer!

We are proud to announce that Wicked Good Gaming has named Smack Talk Showdown as their Indie Card Game of PAX East 2017!  Check out their impressions here. Also be sure to check out their Not Another Gaming Podcast which will feature an interview with Double Turn Games on the next episode!

Speaking of podcasts, we have a few appearances coming up to tell you about.  We will be hanging with the New Age Insiders this week on their show as well as Late Night Liam, and we will be on an upcoming episode of the terrific Top 5 of Death podcast.

Finally, a huge thanks to the teams at Beyond Wrestling and Chaotic Wrestling for letting us set up demos at their shows this past weekend.  Both shows had absolutely STACKED cards and it was fun showing the game off to the rabid wrestling fans!  When the Seven Years of Bad Luck show goes live on BeyonDemand, the deathmatch between Matt Riddle and Matt Tremont ALONE is worth the price of streaming!

Alright, that wraps up this update.  Don't forget to continue sharing our website SmackTalkShowdown.com on Facebook and Twitter and tell your friends about us!  Without your sharing and support, we can't to make this game a reality!

Until next time,

The team at Double Turn Games
